Vee Bottom
The Vee Bottom is a board that was born from the ingenuity of Australian Bob McTavish in 1967. Its aim was to enhance the maneuverability of longboards and improve their performance.
For surfing history enthusiasts, the Vee Bottom represents a significant milestone in the evolution of the sport and the way surfing is approached. To learn more, I recommend watching the 1967 film “The Hot Generation,” directed by Paul Witzig, featuring Nat Young, Bob McTavish, and other iconic surfers/shapers from the Transition Era.
Our approach to the Vee Bottom stays true to its origins while incorporating subtle adaptations to enhance its performance. The slight attenuation of the vee behind the fin, combined with a more pronounced vee panel just in front of the fin, offers exceptional rail-to-rail maneuverability. The wide tail, paired with a slightly set-back mid-point, ensures good buoyancy in smaller waves.
The longer versions of the Vee Bottom also prove to be excellent noseriders.
